Effective beginning the week of Aug. 19, DMA’s Tuesday hours revert to closure at 6 p.m. We will remain open till 8 p.m. on Thursdays in order to accommodate evening productions.

In the Studio Serves Up Episodes

Featured currently on “In the Studio” are the Davis Music Festival; Davis AYSO; Anarchy Roller Derby, and the Davis Vanguard.

“In the Studio” is produced at Davis Media Access (DMA), the non-profit community media center serving Yolo County. The program provides local newsmakers and community organizations with easy ways to promote their activities and events. DMA produces four segments of ITS each month, using the recording sessions as a hands-on learning lab for local residents interested in media production. “In the Studio” airs Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays at 7 p.m. on DCTV, Comcast Channel 15, and on demand at Menu 99 on AT&T's U-verse.

Juneteenth Celebration

The Stephens Branch Library will co-host the celebration of Juneteenth in partnership with the Friends of the Davis Public Library and the City of Davis from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday, June 22, at the Veterans’ Memorial Center, 203 E. 14th St. Additional activities will take place at the library, 314 E. 14th St. Juneteenth is an annual observance to remember when Union soldiers enforced the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas on June 19, 1865. Yolo County’s free, family-friendly Juneteenth celebration will feature food, entertainment and educational exhibits.

Davis Film Festival

What’s a community-minded person to do on such a busy weekend?  DMA is proud to once again also serve as a sponsor for the Tenth Annual Davis Film Festival, which also takes place Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the Veteran's Memorial Theater, 203 E. 14th St. in Davis.

A documentary on Tim DeChristopher’s story, will be shown at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis in the sanctuary on Thursday, June 20 at 27074 Patwin Road. Doors open at 6:30. A discussion will follow. Suggested donation: $5 –$10.

Board Transitions

DMA Board members Fernando Moreno and Patty Clark have completed their terms and are moving on to new pursuits. We thank them both for their service and wish them all the best.

The Board recently voted to approve the following slate of officers for the 2013-14 year: Kate Snow, Chair; Ron Clement, Treasurer; and Henry House, Secretary. We thank these board members for their continued service and look forward to working with them in their new roles.
