More to Celebrate: KDRT Going Strong

Milestones: Just recently, Chris Mussen celebrated 5 years of his KDRT show, “A Constant Grin,” which offers up Indie Rock. Pieter and Jeanne Pastoor just wrapped the first year of “Listening Lyrics,” a show was has featured live in-studio poets, singers and songwriters many a Friday afternoon. And Lee Renault, “The Eclectic Dinosaur” himself, just wrapped up year 8 on the air. Congratulations to all.

Familiar faces start new show on KDRT: Dr. G and Judith Plank, both long-term volunteer programmers at KDRT, are launching a new show, "Through the Looking Glass.” Dr. G formerly produced "Heart to Heart" while Judith Plank produced "A Broad Perspective." The new show, which started October 3 at 4 p.m., will focus on” the inside and the outside elements impacting our lives and our well being.” The hosts will alternate weekly, with Judith adding elements of local events, views, guests and other factors playing a part in our approach to daily life. Dr. G offers a closer look inside ourselves, and presents tips and fresh perspectives on how to deal effectively and compassionately with the people in our lives. Welcome back to some of our favorite talk show hosts!

Bill Buchanan is going strong with “Davisville,” (Mondays, 5:30 p.m.) Recently, he featured an interview with UC Davis international law Professor Karima Bennoune, author of “Your Fatwa Does Not Apply Here.” The book features stories about people in Muslim-majority societies who resist Muslim extremism; she discusses what the United States should do, why fundamentalism has spread, how the left and the right get the issue wrong.

The “Golden Road” with Rod Moseanko has moved to Saturdays for the live broadcast, 2-4 p.m., with replays Thursday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. Rock on, Rod.

Professor Jesse Drew and his band of UC Davis students are back for the fall quarter, producing “Technocult Radio” Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Welcome back to another quarter full of adventures and inquiry into media making!
