A note from the director

I’m a connect-the-dots kind of gal, and I love nothing better than connecting people and resources. I’ve been kind of giddy this past month, juiced by the huge amount of community interaction taking place under this roof.  Many dots have been connected!

Sixteen non-profits in Yolo County took part in PSA Day, and there’s a waiting list for next time. Eight will tip that waiting list; if interested, send email to info@davismedia.org. See the PSA Day collection.

Mother Falcon and Mariachi Puente made the walls shake and shimmy with their recorded performances in the DCTV studio. Tom Brousseau gave us soulful food for thought. Listen to musicians on Listening Lyrics. See the mariachi shoot here.

Davis Parent University, An Evening with Olaf, the Citizens Academy, and WWI Veteran Francis Resta all dropped by for ‘In the Studio.”  There’s quite a growing archive of local topics and personalities documented through “In the Studio.”

Beginning editors learned about Final Cut X. Parents came and learned about keeping their kids safe online in “Social Media for Parents.” Volunteers inched closer to finishing their projects.

Next up, candidates running in contested races for various political offices in Yolo County will be in to record “Meet the Candidates.” DMA will air approximately 200 hours of voter education programming between now and election day on June 3.

And after that, the kids take over for summer production and animation camps!

We keep this all going through community support. This May we’ll conduct our annual spring funding appeal, and we’re participating in the regional Day of Giving on May 6 to support KDRT’s work. Stay tuned for more on that!

In community,

Autumn Labbe-Renault
