Honoring Lois Wolk's Contributions to Urban Forestry

Presented by Tree Davis.

Lois has dedicated her career to Public Service and stewardship of the environment. From Mayor to State Senator, she has been a strong advocate of urban forestry, urban greening and climate change mitigation. As a founding member of Tree Davis in 1993, along with Bob Cordrey and Dick Blanchard, she helped create the public non-profit partnership that still thrives today.

“Since its beginning, Tree Davis has been planting, advising, teaching and restoring our urban tree canopy in Davis. Scores of volunteers, old and young, have made a commitment to care for the trees we value, and they do this in partnership with the city and the schools. Thank you Tree Davis for this honor and for all you have done and continue to do for our environment.”

It is now Tree Davis’ turn to honor Lois’ many accomplishments in caring for our shared natural resources that current and future generations may enjoy. Tree Davis honored Wolk on May 1st at 1 pm, with both a virtual tree dedication and thoughts from local leaders.

The event also showcased Tree Davis’ new Climate-ready Landscape initiative and begin to raise funds for a new fellowship program to train the next generation of urban forest stewards.
