"The Struggle Continues" (1 hour, 22 minutes)
On September 15, David Archambault II, tribal Chairman of the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in North Dakota, spoke to a Sacramento audience about the the history of the struggle his ancestors had to endure, and how that struggle is very much alive today. Chairman Archambault was instrumental in setting up resistance camps to protest the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline under Lake Ohahe at Standing Rock. He says the pipeline is being constructed across lands recognized by the U.S. as Sioux territory, in violation of the tribe's water rights from the 1851 Fort Laramie Treaty and subsequent treaties.
A Media Edge crew recorded the event at St. Mark's United Methodist Church as part of its Moon Lecture Series.
