A remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Davis Varsity Theater.

With a theme of  "Equity in Education & STEM - Realizing the Dream!",  Davis Media Access was there to record on January 15, 2018.

Featuring Davis Mayor Robb Davis, UC Davis Ph.D. student Nkechinyere Chidi-Ogbolu, keynote speaker Mariama Gray, dance performances by Afrovibes, the Davis Freedom Singers, and children from the Parents of African-American Children group.

Davis Train Depot - 150th Celebration on August 25, 2018

Davis Media Access was on site to document the festivities to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first train rolling in the Davis Train Depot.   

The event included historical exhibits, free railroad giveaways, live period music, children’s activities, refreshments, entertainment, commemoration speeches and the unveiling of an interpretive plaque detailing the arrival of the first train at the Davisville Station in 1868.

The City of Davis and the Davis Natural Resources Commission - Hazardous Materials Subcommittee hosted a forum on pesticide use in Davis.

Date & Time: Wednesday, December 7th at 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Location: Davis Senior Center, 646 A St.

The forum discussed current herbicide and insecticide use by the City in public parks, greenbelts, City-owned open spaces and farm lands, City facilities, streets, and sidewalks as well as providing information on why pesticides are used and alternatives to reduce or eliminate continued pesticide use.

DJUSD and the City of Davis are launching their joint initiatiave - the 2016 Davis 1,000 Mentors for Youth Challenge. Mentors of all ages are invited to join this community cause and help reach and support school-aged children.

The goal is to have a minimum of 1,000 new volunteers supporting Davis youth by year's end.  Please join us in the New Year by meeting this new challenge: 1,000 Mentors for Youth.
