Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday. The Yolo Juneteenth Celebration took place June 2, 2024 at the UC Davis ARC Center. Recorded by Davis Media Access.

DHS Theater's final performance of the year: A Tribute to Tony Fields. This performance celebrates a Davis High alum who excelled in Hollywood before returning to give back to his community. It also highlights some of our favorite musical moments of the year. The 2024 production was recorded on April 26 at the Brunelle Theater at Davis Senior High School.

Autumn Labbe-Renault interviews Davis Mayor Josh Chapman on this episode of "The City Considers." The show aims to provide discussion and insight into the people and services behind City government. Elected to the Davis City Council in 2020, he began his term as mayor in January of this year.

Autumn first interviewed Mayor Chapman when he was running for the newly created City Council District 5 in South Davis. From pandemic to now, the discussion touches on City finance and infrastructure; housing; the upcoming General Plan process; I-80, and the planned library in Walnut Park.
