Event info from event's Facebook page: "We’ll be rallying together at the Solidarity Space in the middle of Central Park. You’ll hear from people in our community who have experienced anti-blackness and police brutality firsthand. A chant leader will get us together and coordinated. Then we’ll march into downtown and take this movement for justice to the streets.
We will be taking this movement to the streets to show everyone, particularly the powers that be, how large and diverse this movement is. We’re going to march to declare that Black students in a backward education system, their lives matter. We’re going to march to declare that Black trans people who’s persecution is often ignored, their lives matter. We’re going to march to declare that Black women who endure the dual injustices of anti-blackness & patriarchy, their lives matter. We’re going to march to make it clear that Black Lives Matter, everyday in every way.
You will also hear from activists and advocates working to redirect tax dollars from inefficient & overmilitarized policing to reinvest in community programs & services. Take this opportunity to demonstrate Davis’ commitment to creating a new model for public safety in our town, take this opportunity to rally behind proposals for systematic change in our community.
Bring a sign, bring a mask, and bring your conviction to dismantle all systems of oppression. Look out for more information soon. #MarchForJustice"
