Host Tim Gaffaney talks with the director of TANA, Jose Arenas. They discussed how the idea of a workshop of the new dawn got started, the groundwork to establish a location, the mission to find spaces for the Latinx community for artistic expression, to come together to share ideas and bring about change. They highlighted up coming events culminating in the annual Dia De Los Muertos celebration Oct 29, 5-8pm.

Host Tim Gaffaney talks with Natalie Nelson, Director of the Pence Gallery. They discussed the history of the Pence and their mission of focusing on local and regional artists, as well as education. They delved into specifics of developing artists, not just showing their work, opportunities for young artists, classes offered, The Healing Arts project, field trips to the Pence, the annual Art Auction, and Gala on Sept 24 and how the proceeds from these fundraisers are used.

Host Tim Gaffaney talks with Will Mosley, DDBA Marketing & Outreach Coordinator about a new event for the Davis community called Thursdays in The Davisphere. They talked about how they came up with the name, the events which will include youth performance groups, a beer and wine garden with proceeds going to non-profits, food vendors, and bands that will be on stage in the evening. It will take place in Central Park beginning Sept 1st and run through Oct 27th starting at 4pm.

Tim Gaffaney hosts Allegra Silberstein who was the first poet laureate of Davis. At 91 she has just published another book of poetry which she read two poems from. They talked about where her love of poetry came from and how it was kindled. She discussed the role of nature, light, and color in her writing. She talked about her history, that of being a published author, and what she hopes people will experience from her works.

Host Steve Streeter talks with Kim Britt, Manager, Yolo County In-Home Supportive Services and Kate Laddish, Chair, In-Home Supportive Services Advisory Committee about programs and services offered through In-Home Supportive Services and Public Authority. Topics discussed included who is eligible, how to apply, understanding and managing care givers, as well as training for consumers & providers. They also talked about the Advisory Committee and their many accomplishments, as well as efforts to recruit additional people to serve as members of the committee.

Tim Gaffaney hosts Davis-based mystery writer Catriona McPherson.  The native Scot talked about the themes and settings covered in her over 30 novels to date – including 1930s detective stories, darker contemporary psychological thrillers, and comedies set in a fictionalized version of Davis. She also read an excerpt from her latest novel, In Place of Fear.

Tim Gaffaney hosts Eunghee Cho, founder and artistic director of the Mellon Music Festival. They discussed the reason he founded the festival, his desire to make classical music more accessible, his musical journey and opportunities as a youth in this area to becoming a professional musician. They talked about this year's festival, the concerts and venues and how they were able to offer the festival again this year, adopting flexibility into the programming due to the pandemic.

They discussed the upcoming Davis Music Festival June 17-19, how bands are chosen, mentioned some of the new and returning bands and the wide range of genres. They also covered how they schedule the stages, where one can purchase tickets, proceeds going to the Davis Schools Arts Foundation and why they are the recipients, the youth band competition, how to get involved and volunteer during the event, and the Covid policy.
