Community Events

DMA works with many community partners and is involved with much that happens here in town. Here's a look at some upcoming events:

Every First Thursday
The Davis Odd Fellows are a fine bunch of folks who support many good things in our town. Every First Thursday of the month, they offer up free music starting at 7:30 p.m. at their hall, located at 415 Second Street. The shows are all ages, and the music varies but is always outstanding. You may see jazz one month, Latin the next, rock the next. For dates and details, visit http://davislodge.org. KDRT volunteers Jim Buchanan and Diane Crumley routinely work with the Odd Fellows to record and promote these shows. You can hear many of the bands Jim's recorded on his show 'Live Tracks."

Oct 10 - Raising Davis
The Davis Food Co-op presents Raising Davis. The event celebrates participatory organizations and the people who make them thrive.  All five members of the Raising Davis panel—Bob Black, Cristy Jensen, Richard Gertman, Ann Evans, and Jonathan Woolley—helped develop organizations that enable people to contribute their skills, talents, and energy in meaningful ways, and in so doing, build community. The Raising Davis panel discussion will be held in the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame at 303 3rd Street.  Doors open at 6:30 pm and the panel will speak from 7-8:30 p.m. The Raising Davis event is hosted by the Davis Food Co-opDavis Media Access, and the California Center for Cooperative Development, with support from Monticello Seasonal CuisineThis is a free, ticketed event.  Please obtain your tickets at:  http://raisingdavis.eventbrite.com  http://davisfood.coop/events/item/43

Nov. 3 - N Street Music/Friends of the River Benefit
Our friends at N Street Music are planning to swing back into action Nov. 3 with a benefit for Friends of the River.  There will be a number of performers, but Magic Brook is one. "Magic Brook defies labels and genres with his soulful acoustic guitar work and unique blend of sounds. Brook’s fluid two-hand guitar technique, percussive use of the instrument and blending of styles enables him to create his own intriguing brand of powerful acoustic music."  N Street shows generally start around 8 p.m. We don't have all the details on this yet, but you can visit them on Facebook or check the kdrt.org website in coming weeks
