Welcoming new members: DMA Board & KDRT Steering Committee

DMA is proud to welcome John Z. Bikoba and Henry House as the newest members of our board.

John is originally from the Congo and has been living in Davis for several years with his family; he and his wife Alice just welcomed their first child, a daughter. John is a musician and a geologist by training who is currently employed by UC Davis Food Service. He says his lens on life is music, diversity and the outdoors, and he looks forward to sharing those with the DMA community.

Henry is a lifelong Davis resident with strong ties to this community. He grew up steeped in local agriculture and community, and brings a keen interest in helping individuals to communicate their message. Henry is a software engineer with Smashwords, Inc., which is a platform for self-publishing e-books.

The KDRT Steering Committee, an all-volunteer group that helps manage KDRT 95.7 FM, welcomed two new members to its ranks. Joining the group are jesikah maria ross and Pieter Pastoor.

jesikah’s roots with this organization run deep and hark back to her days as a fresh-out-of-college media trainer right here at DCTV. She was part of the group that helped launched KDRT, and has served the organization in many capacities, including a stint on the board. She’s become world famous for her media and community engagement work and it’s a pleasure to have her back in the KDRT fold.

Pieter’s background is in corporate America, but that’s not what comes through on his weekly radio show, “Listening Lyrics: (Fridays 4 p.m.) Pieter (and often, his wife Jeanne) create a shared experience in the KDRT studio that focuses on music and poetry, often featuring live in-studio guests. Of the show, Pieter says, “it centers around a theme and plays music to contribute to the theme or a local artist is interviewed to hear their music ,and/or listen to music that might have inspired them. Do not let the name fool you, this show is all about music!”  You can learn more about the show and download past segments here.
