Thanks to the concerted volunteer help of many individuals*, Davis Media Access (DMA) launched its annual fund raising appeal May 1. With a goal of raising $20k before the month is over, we are making great progress- $12k to date. Thank you for the tremendous response we have received so far! We still have a ways to go and we can’t do it without your continued support and participation.
If you’ve not yet donated or are on the fence, please take a minute to consider DMA’s role and value in our community and what these contributions directly support: grassroots radio station KDRT; support for youth media programming, and local election coverage.
The promise of public access television 25 years ago was equal access to media tools for all, and development of cable set-aside channels as free-speech platforms. Since that time, Davis Media Access (DMA) has grown into a full-service community media center. Through our key projects – Davis Community Television, DJUSD.TV and KDRT 95.7 FM—we support hands-on digital skills building, local content creation, and distribution on digital and broadcast media. We’ve kept the Focus:Local for nearly 25 years, using media to build and support our community.
Chances are good that you’ve played a role in our growth. DMA is a valued partner to both the City and DJUSD, and to many community groups. If you’ve appeared on a program, watched or listened to something locally created, had an event covered or promoted, attended a workshop or mixer, had a family member benefit from our training or internships, then you’ve been part of community media here in Davis.
In the past few years, demand for our services has skyrocketed. With just four full-time and two part-time staff managing close to 200 active volunteers participating in multiple programs and services, we need your help to maintain capacity and continue to meet community need.
If you believe that DMA’s community programs and service are part of what makes Davis such a unique community, please give as generously as you can. A gift to Davis Media Access is much bigger than just a donation – it’s a statement that independent outlets for community voices matter.
