We are pleased to report that on June 11, the Davis City Council unanimously supported a new three-year contract for DMA/DJUSD media funding, effective July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2016. The funds are provided from right-of-way fees paid by the cable operator to the City, and have long been used to fund community services here in Davis.
This contract represents the bulk of the media center’s funding, and pays for staff and most operational and capital costs, so this is good news indeed. (There are distinct imitations on what this funds, however, hence our very real and continued need for additional fund raising).
We thank the City for its continued support of community media in Davis, and both the City and DJUSD for its continued partnership. For more information about those partnerships and how the funding works, please see DMA’s Annual Reports.
