The Stephens Branch Library will co-host the celebration of Juneteenth in partnership with the Friends of the Davis Public Library and the City of Davis from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday, June 22, at the Veterans’ Memorial Center, 203 E. 14th St. Additional activities will take place at the library, 314 E. 14th St. Juneteenth is an annual observance to remember when Union soldiers enforced the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas on June 19, 1865. Yolo County’s free, family-friendly Juneteenth celebration will feature food, entertainment and educational exhibits. This year’s event also will feature a hat fashion show.
