You Inspire Us…
Welcome to the dog days of summer! It’s that funny time in Davis when things are relatively quiet, yet hovering just on the horizon is September, otherwise known as the Time When All Things Begin. We’ll be starting fall internships, firing up partnerships and trainings, planning for election coverage, and getting ready for another whirlwind year.
Davis Media Access (DMA) is able to continue providing full services because of some wonderful things that happened in June. First, we have many, many people to thank for helping us to meet our annual funding goal before June 30 (the end of our fiscal year). It takes concerted outreach and considerable elbow grease to make this happen. I tip my hat to the DMA Board of Directors, the KDRT Steering Committee, and the many individuals and organizations who cast a vote for independent media outlets with their hearts and their dollars. And to everyone who shared our calls to action & stepped up, THANK YOU. Please see our donor’s list, here.
Second, as previously reported here, on June 11, the Davis City Council unanimously supported a new three-year contract for DMA/DJUSD media funding, effective July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2016. We thank the City for its continued support of community media in Davis.
