A three hour live broadcast hosted by Autumn Labbe-Renault and guests hosts Dan Carson, Brett Lee, and Gloria Partida.
Featuring local candidates and personalities.
A live, election-night program on Nov. 3, 2020, highlighting local races and local ballot measures. The show airs 8-11 p.m. PST and may be viewed on DCTV Channel 15 on the Comcast system in Davis, live streamed at https://davismedia.org/election, and heard via live simulcast on KDRT 95.7FM in Davis and http://kdrt.org. Providing free, non-partisan local election coverage to local candidates has been part of its mission for more than 30 years.
Earlier in the season, DMA produced “Meet the Candidates,” a series of short interviews highlighting candidates for races from school board through Congress, as well as local ballot measures—in all, 26 interviews. The media center has also aired forums from the League of Women Voters Davis Area and the Yolo Committee for Diverse and Inclusive Elections. All content is available at https://davismedia.org/election.
In a year where the media center has pivoted all its production to remote methods, the prospect of a three-hour live show is “challenging but intriguing,” said DMA’s Executive Director Autumn Labbé-Renault. “We’ve never experienced district elections before, never contended with as many candidates as we have this cycle, never done election night without access to a studio and crew, and neither I nor my co-hosts have hosted a show like this before,” she said. “One thing remains the same: on a live election-show night where results can be slow to roll in, we’ll focus on thoughtful discussion of the campaign season as a whole.”
Co-hosts are for the evening are Davis City Councilmember Dan Carson from 8-9; Davis City Councilmember and former mayor Brett Lee from 9-10, and Davis Mayor Gloria Partida from 10-11. “These are the council members not currently up for election, and I’m not only delighted to share the evening with them, I’m so appreciative of their time and willingness to directly engage in this exercise that’s about democracy and community.” The schedule for the evening is below.
